According to dictionary.com : vernal adj. 1) Fresh and young; youthful. 2) Of, relating to, or occurring in the spring. 3) Characteristic of or resembling spring.
Though, until today I always called it the Spring Equinox (and the other one the autumn equinox). This may be another of those things that are different on either side of the herring pond.
